I’m a pretty picky eater. Whenever anyone orders pizza, I feel like less is more. Some people like the everything pizza but I enjoy a plain cheese one usually. So this recipe is perfect because it’s totally customizable! You can stuff it with whatever you’d like! And you can make these as easily or as complicated as you wish. You can buy the dough and the sauce at a local pizza place and just buy the other stuff or you could make the sauce and dough from scratch.

Ingredients

  • 1lb pizza dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • Various toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, etc.)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Basil, garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 °
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it with non-stick spray
  • Grab a handful of dough for each person
  • Roll each piece into a circle
  • Place the filling on half of each circle (pizza sauce, pepperoni, etc)
  • Make sure the edges are clear so it seals
  • Fold the empty side over the filling and press the edges (a little water at the seam helps)
  • Place calzones on a baking sheet, leaving space in between
  • Cut a couple small vents on the top
  • Brush the tops with oil and sprinkle with a little basil and garlic, if desired
  • Bake for 10 minutes then flip and bake 5 more or until golden brown
