A different kind of road sign with a different kind of message will be greeting students and parents on their way to school for the new year in Richland County, South Carolina. The signs say “School Prayer Zone,” and shows stick figures of a man and woman praying, and include 2nd Chronicles 7:14. That verse calls on God’s people to pray, repent, and seek God for the healing of their land.

South Carolina Department of Transportation officials say they didn’t approve the signs, but since they’re not official road signs and not on public right of ways, they can remain. Columbia’s Christ Teens is the group responsible for the signs, and its founder says she hopes the signs will encourage people to pray more.
