Ever find yourself wondering what your purpose is? If you are in a season of trying to find purpose and meaning in your everyday life, you’re not alone. I’ve been in a holding pattern – a waiting season for a few years now and it’s hard! Sometimes the days just don’t feel important, and I honestly don’t love that.

I read a simple prayer the other day that I found so helpful that I made it my phone screen.

“Lord,
Today is a meaningful day because my purpose is to know you.”

We all seek purpose in life, and as believers, we find that our ultimate purpose is to know the Lord. This journey of knowing God isn’t just about acquiring knowledge; or accomplishing greatness, it’s about building a relationship filled with love, trust, and faith.

Jeremiah 29:13 reminds us, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” This verse encourages us to pursue God with everything we have. It’s a heartfelt invitation to deepen our relationship with Him. It helps to rip our focus and attention off what we don’t know or don’t have and into what we do know – the Lord is near and wants to reveal his goodness to us.

In John 17:3, Jesus says, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” Knowing God isn’t just for this life but is the essence of eternal life. It’s about experiencing His love, grace, and presence every day.

As we grow in our relationship with the Lord, we find joy, peace, and a deeper sense of purpose. Proverbs 3:6 promises, “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he day will make your paths straight.” By knowing God and acknowledging Him in all we do, He guides our steps and gives our lives direction. it’s in him we find meaning and purpose in everyday.

So say it with me (and make it your screen savor if you want! image below).
“Lord,
Today is a meaningful day because my purpose is to know you.”
