What I’m Learning Lately

Maybe you will be road tripping for the upcoming holidays, what a perfect opportunity to check out the JOY99 podcast, This Lyric, That Truth. I’ve had such rich conversations lately that really having me thinking and, in some cases, making some big changes. When I talked with Cynthia from Crisis Aid (Episode 31) I was inspired to get more involved with putting restrictions on my teenagers’ phones, but also their gaming systems. We discussed the importance of digital safety for children and explored resources available for parents to help navigate the complexities of the internet, including how to have open conversations with kids about online safety. There are so many things regarding technology that I realized I need to reengage with.

Speaking of the holidays, my friend Abby Zeerip who has an “organized brain” versus my “messy brain” and I talked the value of both messy and organized approaches to life, encouraging listeners to embrace their unique styles while fostering meaningful connections with family and friends. She had some great tips on how to bless teachers, bus drivers, service providers and how she herself saves for the holidays. This one is an upbeat and fun listen (Episode 32).

On JOY99, JR Pittman has a feature called “HisStory”. He was a great podcast guest as we chatted about evangelism and he shared insights on finding strength through worship, the importance of quiet time with God, and practical ways to discern His voice. (Episode 33) He emphasizes the power of prayer and connection in community, encouraging listeners to engage in conversations about faith. JR also discusses the significance of living out the good news and maintaining a kingdom focus amidst global distractions, ultimately highlighting the joy and peace that comes from a firm foundation in Christ.
