About Joy99
For 36 years, JOY99 has been West Michigan’s source for Contemporary Christian music. It started with a vision to provide a more Contemporary Christian music station with little to no teaching programs. It was also decided at that time that JOY99 would be a local for-profit commercial supported station. We wanted to be funded by the local businesses, not our listeners, for operating expenses allowing listeners to support non-profit organizations. We have never tallied it up, but a conservative estimate would say that JOY99 listeners have given more than 3 million dollars to nonprofits over that time through on-air fundraising campaigns. Thank you for being a giving community!

Why Joy?
It is our heartfelt desire that the world may know they will never have complete Joy without grasping onto the true Joy Giver. There is no true Joy without Jesus. The Bible repeats over and over the command to bring Joy, sing for Joy, shout for Joy, cries of Joy, find Joy, choose Joy, and even to share Joy. We feel we are called to share exactly that…Joy.
Psalms 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
John 15:11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
Psalms 66:1 Shout for joy to God, all the earth!
Why Worship?
What greater honor could we have than to Worship to the King of Kings! In Luke 4, we are commanded to “worship the Lord our God”. Do we really need a command to worship the amazing God who made the heavens and the earth? Just breath to breathe is reason enough, not to mention the incredible inheritance we have coming. It is an absolute honor to have the privilege to come before His presence with singing! Great practice for the day we are worshipping Him face to face.
Psalms 96:9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.
Psalms 100:2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Luke 4:8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”
Why JoyWorship?
The words Worship and Joy just go together. What better way to live into and experience more of that true Joy than by worshiping Him all day every day? It is our prayer that your listening experience will be exactly that, an experience. We have no desire to entertain or take the spotlight. Our prayer is that we can help facilitate an intimate experience with God so powerful and personal that you will truly feel His presence. That powerful experience need not happen once a week on Sunday. May that experience happen in your car, in your home, on a walk, as you exercise…whatever you are doing you can engage, participate, and experience Him every minute of the day. 1 Thessalonians 5 instructs us to pray continually. JoyWorship’s sole desire is to help make that a reality for you continually.
