Turkey Day Tips
Getting organized for Thanksgiving can help reduce stress and make the holiday more enjoyable. Here are 5 Turkey Day tips!:
1) Plan Your Menu
Start by deciding on the dishes you want to serve, taking into account any dietary preferences or restrictions from your guests. Once you have your menu finalized, make a detailed shopping list, breaking it down into categories (e.g., produce, dairy, canned goods, etc.).
2) Do Early Shopping
Avoid the last-minute crowds, and take advantage of any sales or discounts. Consider buying non-perishable items ahead of time and fresh ingredients just a few days before the holiday to ensure they stay fresh.
3) Delegate Tasks
Ask family members or friends to bring side dishes or desserts. If you’re hosting, you can also ask for help with setting the table, cleaning, or even carving the turkey.
4) Get your kids involved
Your kiddos can create a checklist of tasks that need to be done leading up to the big day. This helps them get involved, while showing them just how big of a project it is. Plus, they feel that they're bringing "something to the table".
5) Prep Ahead of Time
The more you can prep, the less you'll need to do on the big day. Chop vegetables, make pie crusts, or even prepare casseroles a day or two ahead of time. If you’re roasting a turkey, consider brining it or seasoning it the night before. If you're eating in a room that is typically "not used", you can pre-set the table and lay out any serving platters, utensils, or decorations the day before.
