Remembering Mandisa

Our hearts are heavy this morning over the news of the passing of Mandisa. We were introduced to Mandisa when she first appeared on American Idol.

She will be remembered as a woman who was ridiculed by Simon Cowell due to her weight. Since that moment, Mandisa has extended forgiveness and grace.

Her cause of death is not yet known. She’s home with Jesus.

From the Unity Music Festival in 2012, to books, to singing along with one of her songs, we are grateful for the encouragement she shared.

Here is a note from her record label.

Dear Radio Family,

“We are very sad news that our community lost one of our most beloved members when Mandisa passed away yesterday. We don’t know all of the details yet and may not for a few days. What we do know is that our company and really the whole world lost a bright light.

Mandisa’s ministry and music had a significant impact in our industry and on countless people’s lives, and we want to honor and recognize that. Her smile, joy and love for Jesus lit up every room she entered.

I’m thankful that when these hard moments arise, we not only possess eternal hope that we will see our friends again, but we can also find comfort in sharing stories to honor those we loved. We would love to hear any stories you have and to share those with the team here at CCMG. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers.”
