The Next Faithful Step
Many of us would like to know the future, but only one human ever did--Jesus. Not knowing what tomorrow brings may cause great anxiety. The uncertainty of our lives can be daunting, fear inducing and even paralyzing.
There is a story about a boy and his horse who are lost in the woods at night. The boy says to his horse, "I can't see the way to go." The horse asks, "Can you see the next step?" The boy says, "Yes." The horse says, "Then take that."
Scripture is filled with the invitation to trust GOD. Over and over and over again, we are called to not rely on what we can see, but rather have faith to believe. Matthew 6:34: “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Sometimes I wonder if the Lord purposefully limited our vision of the future as not to overwhelm us!
Take a deep breath, say this prayer out loud, and take the next faithful step.
Dear Lord, I thank you that I can come to you always for any reason. I’m grateful that when I pray to you, you answer me. Help me to come to you at the beginning of my fears and anxieties instead of waiting until I can’t stand them anymore. The quicker I come to you the better. You want to free me from all my fears. Help me look to you for help more often so that I can be radiant with your joy. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
