Replacing Fear & Anxiety with Peace
Fear and anxiety are feelings many people struggle with today, and we could dig into lots of reasons why that is. But today we want to encourage you with HIS word in how you can combat those feelings and find peace.
1. Remember: God is not the source of anxiety or fear.
Philippians 4:6, which says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
2. Take your anxieties and concerns to the Lord.
Matthew 6:25 - "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
3. Leave anxious thoughts with Jesus.
1 Peter 5:7 - "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you"
4. Count on God’s presence.
Psalm 130:5 - "I am counting on the LORD; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word"
5. Don’t borrow future worries.
Psalm 55:22 - "Cast your burden on the Lord He will support you.”
6. Eliminate any misplaced fear.
Isaiah 41:10 - "Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
7. Find peace beyond your circumstances.
Colossians 3:15 - "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful".
Psalm 29:11 - "The Lord gives strength to his people, and the Lord blesses his people with peace".
8. Cast out fear with love.
John 4:18 - "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love"
9. Run to your eternal refuge.
Deuteronomy 33:27 - "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, 'Destroy!'
10. Let the peace of Christ rule.
Colossians 3:15-17 – “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
