We all go through stages where we could use some tips on how to get our kiddos to sleep better! The Christian Post released an article about how to make sure you’re getting enough good sleep in our fast-paced society! Check out the article to see the recommended hours of sleep based off of age. Here’s their tips for how to do that below!
- Turn screens off at least 30 minutes prior to bedtime
- Have age appropriate conversations with your kids about sleep
- Create a plan that you and your child (if appropriate) agree is realistic and will meet their sleep needs
- Establish a sleep routine including some or all of the following:
- Turn off screens at X pm
- Brush teeth
- Shower/bath
- Put on pajamas
- Read X number of books
- Lights out at X pm
- Wake up at about the same time every day, including weekends
- Keep bedrooms slightly cool
- Avoid excitement or physical activity 30 – 60 minutes prior to bed
- Avoid eating or drinking fluids 30 – 60 minutes before bed
- Avoid caffeine after 3 pm
- Spend calm, quality time with your family leading up to bedtime
