This past year, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to some other Christian radio stations across the country and I tend to hear the same sentiment repeated over and over again. Christian music is a safe place, a respite from the roar of negativity that can creep up in our social media feeds and the 24-hour news cycle. One woman told me that she and her husband listen to Christian radio every morning as they drive to their chemotherapy appointments because both of them were diagnosed with cancer this year. Even though this is the hardest thing they’ve walked through, they tune in so they can worship together and get their hearts focused on Jesus.
I like to think we are here for you both as you walk through tough valleys of sickness, loss, or pain but also celebrate with you on the mountain tops as well. Honestly, most days are the everyday mundane days we all are trying to get it together in trying to figure out what’s for dinner, who has a soccer game when and who is helping whom with homework tonight, and how in the world we are going to get 8 hours of rest tonight.
Here, on Joy99 and JoyWorship, it’s music that points you to Jesus. Helps you grow in your faith. Offers 30 more minutes of hope when you feel completely exhausted. We are grateful to be invited into your car radios, smart speakers, and smartphone apps.
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
