It is almost Valentines Day! Here’s some household items/ingredients that will make those flowers brighten your house for just a little bit longer! They key to each is to remember to change the water every couple of days and add more of the household ingredient!
- Soda (1/4 cup into the water in a vase full of cut flowers)
- Hair Spray (Stand a foot away from the bouquet and give them a quick spray, just on the undersides of the leaves and petals)
- Apple Cider Vinegar (mix 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar & 2 tbsp sugar with the vase water before adding flowers)
- Vodka (a few drops of vodka (or any clear spirit) to the vase water for antibacterial action along with 1 tsp of sugar)
- Aspirin (put a crushed aspirin in the water before adding your flowers)
- Bleach (1/4 tsp bleach per quart of vase water or 3 drops bleach and 1 tsp sugar in 1 liter of water)
- Coins (a copper penny & a cube of sugar)
- Sugar (3 tbsp sugar & 2 tbsp white vinegar per liter of warm water)
