I know that as a Dad, I seem to get into a rut of asking the same question to my daughter when I pick her up from school. “How was your day?” It’s my go-to question, I’ll admit it. But recently, at church, I was introduced to 6 different ways to begin a conversation.
Perhaps the best line to use to begin a conversation is this:
- Tell me more about…
It’s a great conversation starter because it creates space in the conversation. It leads to more than just one word answers. And it opens more opportunity for dialogue.
Here are a few other great ways to begin a conversation:
- I’m curious about…
- Tell my why this isn’t working for you…
- What problem are we trying to solve’…
- You are really passionate about _____, why?
