Who do you turn to when you need wisdom?
When I need good, sound, Godly advice, I go to my “Papa Harry.”
I met Harry in seminary. He was a successful businessman going back to school to serve in vocational ministry in his retirement. He never had any children himself so he affectionately refers to me as his “number 1 daughter.”
Harry isn’t necessarily the most entertaining man in the world, nor is he the most humorous. However, I consider him to be one of the most wise. I know I can turn to Harry with anything and he will give me an honest reply from the perspective of Jesus.
Do you have someone like this in your life?
Proverbs 16:20 says, “Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.”
Scripture is very clear that we are not supposed to do this Christ-following-life alone! Having a mentor, coach or pastor speaking into our lives is so important to having a vibrant relationship with Jesus. If you have someone like this, take a moment to thank God for them and tell them thank you for investing in you. If you don’t have someone like this, I invite you to ask the Lord to show you someone who may take this place in your life. You won’t regret it!
