I’ve been with you on the journey of Joy99 for almost 26 years (gasp, I CANNOT believe its been that long) and I love sharing short tidbits of hope and encouragement every day on the radio show, but every now and again I just want to go deeper and explore the topics just a little bit longer. The This Lyric, That Truth Podcast is a way for you to join us as we chat about things regarding growing in our lives of faith and highlighting a verse from a song that is really lighting up our souls.
26 years ago Tommy Dylan, current morning show co-host, hired me after I showed up at a gas station he was broadcasting at asking for a job with a sandwich board:) We talk a little bit about that on episode 17, along with his how he was able to share his faith in different ways while working in secular work environments. You’ll learn a fun fact about Tommy about what he considers a fun thing to do in his free time:)
Carrie Zeilstra is a local author who wrote a beautiful devotional on processing life when “The Mountain Doesn’t Move”—on episode 16, she mentions that God did move mountains during her grief, they just weren’t the exact mountains she was hoping would move.
On episode 15, Midday host Elsie Bee, gets real and raw about her experience with how she found joy in the unexpected circumstances that she’s encountered in her life, like learning her baby boy would live with Down Syndrome. Listen in to hear how God provided an absolute miracle in her heart the night he was born. You may just find some hope of your own in what you are going through.
My husband, Pastor Dave, joined me on episode 14 to challenge us to be more interruptible in our everyday lives, to stop claiming we are too busy and leave a bit of margin for engaging in conversations and taking time to listen to one another. This is an episode we actually used in our staff devotions and was a challenge to us all when we learned that most of Jesus’ ministry was him being interrupted.
